Sport Events - AEL 2008 WILL BE DOUBLED : TWO CATEGORIES FOR THE ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. The race will also be valid as a pre-ride for the European 2009.

The great novelty for this year's Assisi Endurance Lifestyle, from the point of view of sports, is that the Italian 2008 Endurance Championship will become the Italian Endurance Championship Open, that will also include the section "Young Riders" (for young riders under 21 years of age).
The two distances covered will be 160 and 120 kms respectively, stretching out over the splendid Umbrian hills and plains through Assisi, Spello, Bevagna, Bettona, Bastia e Cannara.

Apart from the magical Pony Village, a place where young visitors can come into contact with and learn how to relate to horses, there will be an exceptional event, the Italian Pony Championship, a 5 and 10 kms race that will allow young horsemen and horsewomen to healthily take part in a competitive sport.

The event that will take place mid-June in Assisi will be conceived with the "container" formula; several competitions taking place in the same place with an aim to get public opinion and staff to concentrate on a single event.

Another important element that is emerging for 2009 is that the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) will soon assign the 2009 European Championship Open to the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation (Federazione Italiana Sport Equestri) and FISE will in its turn assign it to UEET (Umbria Endurance Equestrian Team) and thus to Assisi.
Not by chance, Assisi Endurance Lifestyle 2008 will include a "pre-ride" for the next continental event, a kind of general rehearsal which the FEI will be looking at closely to be able to confirm its choices.
