Terni. As the patron saint of Terni, St Valentine is much celebrated in Umbria’s second largest city, which puts on a month of events in collaboration with the diocese, the Regione Umbria and the Province of Terni. This year’s programme concerts, ballet, conferences, meetings, shows and art festivals.
The climax of the celebrations is clearly February 14th, with a number of services and masses held in the Basilica of San Valentino and, at 11am, High Mass officiated by the Bishop. Other religious events include the Festa della Maternità for expecting mothers and adoptive parents, the Festa della Promessa for betrothed couples and a series of ceremonies for couples celebrating their 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries.
Among the sporting events scheduled is the Maratonina di San Valentino mini-marathon race.
